Handmade Paper Experiment

As I intend to have handmade paper in my publication I have had a go at making my own, it was quite successful for a first attempt :)

To begin I tore up lots of old paper I had lying around:

I then mixed it with boiling water and let it soak for a while and then put it through my smoothie maker with food colouring.

I then scooped the mush onto my homemade sieve kind of mechanism which I remember doing in Brownies when I was younger (haha).  Then transferred the mush onto dry newspaper to let it absorb all the water and dry out over night.  To help dry it out quicker, I covered the paper with a clean and dry tea towel and ironed it.  This helped to make the paper thin and flat.
