Design for Print & Web // Further Visual Research

These images below were all sourced from design inspiration.  They don't particularly relate to the brief but I admire the aesthetics of them all so thought I'd record them here.  For my visuals for the brief I would like to design something more creative like this than just road signs which was my initial idea.

Design for Print & Web // Visual Research

I have picked the brief 'On yer bike' as I love cycling and thought I could probably relate to this brief the most.

This is the last years winner for the competition, their design shows great digital skill but I think it could be more exciting.

So far this is the visual research that has caught my eye.

Clever:  Bikes made into furniture!

Here are some cool road marking typogprahy I found on http://designspiration.net/image/4088022580599/.  Something like this would work well to guide cyclists around cities and gives you a larger surface area to work with than just a sign post.

Design for Print // Study Task 1

Identify a minimum of 5 examples of the effective/creative use of print in the following areas of design:
  • Branding and Identity
  • Packaging and Promotion
  • Publishing & Editorial
  • Information & Wayfinding
Branding and Identity

'The visible elements of a brand (such as coloursdesign, logotype, name, symbol) that together identify and distinguish the brand in the consumers' mind.'

An example of an easily recognisable brand is coca cola, their trademark is one of the most famous worldwide.  The red colour is copyrighted and other brands of coca cola are not allowed to use the exact same colour.

Packaging and Promotion

A campaign to try and sell more Lee jeans, perhaps not the most ergonomic of designs but it is definitely eye catching and will get people talking about the brand which will boost sales.

James Blakes CMYK EP

This release from James Blake was apparently issued in three transparent vinyl colorways, for nerds.*
